Simple. Reachable. Doable. Small ways. They pack enough punch to change your world, or your day. Or maybe, simply and gloriously, they’ll change your moment. Small Ways is a series about small objects, small gestures, small touches. Small ways for living well.
A fishing rod, a tackle box. Bear spray. A clay saucer, a pair of pruners. These were the things scattered at the end of the table nearest the front door, the place in the house that becomes the inadvertent holding zone for things on their way out the door. It can quickly feel cluttered, all of this, sitting willy-nilly at the end of the table, especially when a full life has us coming and going and the smattering of disassociated things continues to grow.
Life makes messes. It’s as simple as that. And the fuller the life, the messier the messes. But I’m here for it. Do the things, create the things, cook and bake the things, make the things, hike the hikes, fish the fish, plant the plants, play the games. Messes are the tailings of nuggets mined. Let’s not miss the treasure to avoid the mess.
