That poncho is stunning and would look so gorgeous in the green you chose!
Where you live is so beautiful, and thinking of it burned hurts my heart. I'm so glad that man didn't lose his cabin, and you did not lose your home. I'm sure the regrowth will be beautiful, but I will miss those amazing trees!
I'm loving the Chateau one best, but I also know either one will look stunning. I'm so glad the man living in his best life in his off grid cabin is safe, and knowing the fire ravaged the landscape hurts my heart. Thank you for sharing last year's pictures, the beauty in your area is breathtaking!
I love the Chateau so warm and cozy looking! Love all the pictures and so sorry the beauty was lost but glad your cabin is safe. And the man of 90 living off grid, you have to admire his grit and determination!
It must be difficult, Carmella, to look out at the scorched canyon, simultaneously mourning the loss of its fall beauty while realizing how blessed you all are to be safe and still have your homes. Springtime will bring rebirth.
I read an interesting fact recently about the Black Pine. The only time it releases its seeds is after a forrest fire. (Mother Nature sure has a strong survival mechanism.)
Changing topics, my vote is for the shrug. It’s a lovely pattern. The cable stitches seem completely in harmony with the drape of the garment.
And as for Maggie Mae…
Let’s just hope that the turkeys take turns doing lookout!👀
I have that Braun alarm clock, I think Martha Stewart recommended it Years ago, and I haven't needed it yet. And I bought one of those beautiful watercolor books for a friend for a gift. They tempt me to try it for myself, they're so appealing.
A man in his nineties, living alone and off-grid? Amazing fellow.
I was just looking at knitted poncho patterns, more like your second one. But you probably just need to figure out if you want something loose like that, or one that's like a cocoon sweater. Try to imagine what you'll be doing in it, Carmella. The poncho might not be as warm, although I prefer that style.

Chateau is my favorite of the two. Either would be wonderful to wear.
I so look forward to your beautiful writing each week.
Thank you- Linda
