Thank you for the recommendations. At 51, it might be about time to do something about my skin. I don’t wear makeup, mostly out of laziness. 😮My skin is dry so I don’t wash it either. Nightly I rub on some handmade calendula infused oil with lavender essential oil and a bit of rose hip oil. I would like to invest in a richer cream for my face and I’d love to find a daily sunscreen that doesn’t make me look like a ghost 👻 I do agree that it is a form of self care and that it’s ok to treat myself to something lovely 😊
Yes, it is absolutely okay (and I would say important!) to treat yourself to something lovely for your skin. You may appreciate the cleansing oil from Island Apothecary. I've also used extra virgin olive oil to cleanse my skin. Your calendula infused oil sounds lovely. I've not tried all the sunscreen there is, but Skinnies is clear, is reef-safe, water-free, and a tiny bit goes a long way. You might like to try it. (None of this is paid, these are just products I've used for years).
I’ve heard of Island Apothecary and am inspired to try it out as I live in Maine too! Love a good locally made product ☺️ I’m in my early thirties and have been feeling the need for some more intentional skin care. Thank you for sharing!
Oh my goodness, I missed the call again?!?! I’m so sad. Trying so hard to make the next one. As for skincare, I am grateful to my mother n law who took impeccable care of her skin and looked 20 years younger than her 87 years when she passed last year.
Haha! I wondered where you were! No worries, though. Truly. You'll make it next time. I'm wondering if it would be helpful to send reminders via Substack chat the morning of, and perhaps again two hours prior? I've updated the schedule: there are two remaining, both on Sunday afternoon at 3:00MST, Nov 19 and Dec 17.
How inspiring to hear of your mother in law! I LOVE stories of women who've gone before and done it well.
Well, it sounds like you might have to hit me over the head to remind me. I certainly don’t want to add the extra work for you when I think it’s because I’m not seeing my email in the first place. 🤪 Hopefully I’ll make it next time.
Yay, so glad ya did this post on Skincare/Beauty. I was brought up the same way, my Mom, instilled in us Sisters, Skin care, Cardinal Sin, Wash and Cleanse face daily. On Sundays we gathered around kitchen table and steamed our face.
Oh my goodness somewhat recall Island Apothecary, right here in Maine, perhaps from an previous post from your blog, years back. I love your simple, mindful routine.
I have scaled mine way back. If I was on an deserted island give me my Sunscreen.
Geez, ( way to much Sun over the years) but never had an sunburn( Italian Olive Skin).
Love ya chose color of your first name❤️
I like anything that feels like Axle grease at nighttime, face, hands, feet. All skincare don’t like fragrance added to them.

Thank you for the suggestions. It’s nice to have some ideas instead of searching and wasting precious time. ❤️
